For me, cookies are synonymous with quick bites of goodness. They are crunchy yet chewy, have bursts of flavour and leave you feeling content with just a few bites. One good cookie can really change your mood and bring a smile to your face.
To top it off, they are fairly easy to make and have such a variety of flavours that the options seem endless. One of my favourite flavours, in life, is peanut butter. This lends itself extremely well to cookies. Extra buttery (regular + peanut butter!), a mix of salty and sweet, crunchy on the outside and melt-in-the-mouth overall. YUM.

If you ask my husband, he will tell you I hardly eat any vegetables. I am super picky. I feel I eat enough (potatoes count right? ) but it is true that I don’t eat too many green vegetables. The one green veggie that I LOVE is Bhindi (Ladyfinger/Okra). I used to end up making bhindi for dinner once a week without fail. That much love. However, now the boy has asked me to make it less often, I think he has kinda overdosed on bhindi 🙂
Growing up, we used to have a simple Bhindi fry at home. Just some cumin seeds and chilli powder pretty much. No onions, no tomatoes, no major spice quotient. My sister really loves that simple version. However, I was never a big fan, it was a little bland for me. So when our help at home made this masala version once, I was hooked! This is major comfort food levels for me. When I want a simple meal, rice+dal+vegetable type, this is what I go for. Honestly, I don’t even need the rice. I have been known to just mix the bhindi and the dal in a bowl, squeeze some lemon juice on top and eat it just like that. Happiness.

Nothing says summer better than Mangoes! Especially in India. Especially in Mumbai.
There are so many delicious varieties of mangoes in India – Banganapalli, Langda, Dashehri, Kesar and so on. But my favourite has got to be the Alphonso! It is so sweet and full of flavour! Mangoes make the horrid summer heat a teeny bit more bearable. I dread summers. I am definitely a winter and monsoon person. The heat and humidity are just not my scene. Give me an air-conditioned room, coconut water and some tasty mangoes and I might feel a bit better about this time of year.
Mangoes are extremely versatile. Eat them as is, add them to milk to make thick shakes, puree them and eat them with puris, add them to a nice leafy salad, enjoy the chunks of mango in mango ice cream… the possibilities are endless. My favourites are the milkshake and the ice cream. And the plain fruit as is, of course. I took this love of mangoes and milk/cream and converted it into a cake!

There are few aromas as comforting and happiness-inducing as that of freshly baked banana bread! Right?
It just makes you want to cuddle up on the sofa with a slice of cake, maybe some coffee and a good book. It’s even better if it is cold or raining outside 🙂 This aroma itself can bring such a big smile onto my face. I’m smiling writing about it!
